Lynn’s Road to Recovery

Were Lynn’s first words to us in a chain of emails at the end of June.

Less than 6 months ago, Lynn found herself going into GRH hospital suffering from a collapse of both lungs after contracting COVID-19 and was immediately placed on a ventilator to save her life.

Lynn told us, “I spent the first 2-weeks fighting for my life on machines, drugs, and having oxygen pumped in me. At first, I didn’t respond well to the treatment and ended up with 6 insulin injections per day as my blood sugars from multiple steroids had been shot to pieces.”

“ICU was ready to put me in a coma to keep me alive. With the help of the HCA, I wrote goodbye emails and saved them in my drafts ready for my daughter to send… I had also signed a ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ form as I didn’t want to carry on if I was going to survive and only be dependent on machines.”

“I was eventually let home after my house was rigged with many machines… After 5 weeks at home, I learned to push a wheelchair with my oxygen cylinder in so that I was able to move around. It took 9 weeks of hard graft to breathe for myself and walk around without tubes in my nose.. 12 weeks to walk unaided and talk at the same time… then I was in the gym with you.”

Fast forward to today, and she’s now in a very different position. Traveling on the right path has since turned her life around with exercise and nutrition.

  • Over 2.5 stone lighter and healthier since starting.
  • Can walk & talk without the help from oxygen tanks.
  • Recovered from pneumonia.
  • Consistently working out 3x per week.
  • Now enjoying being more active, recording 8,000 steps a day.
  • Feeling more confident with increased levels of self-esteem.
  • Has had to buy a new wardrobe of clothes, 3-sizes smaller.


Lynn shared that “Since I was told that COVID had left me with Type 2 Diabetes, I’ve changed the way I eat… I’ve found a way to manage my blood sugars by eating a low carb, low sugar-based diet and exercising daily. Now being 2.5 stone lighter, I feel amazing and so I’m sticking with you!”
